Let’s talk hair! My hair is honestly one of the things about me that I am most proud of. I have always loved my thick and wavy hair and because of this – I like to look after it. For me, I will easily splurge on products that are the best for my hair and won’t even blink an eye. Recently, I cut my long hair (after 8 years of just trims!) to shoulder length and bought some new products. My hair is honestly the healthiest it has been in years. I was platinum blonde before this so my hair had suffered quite a bit of damage and due to only doing short trims, my ends were so broken. Now with my shorter length, more natural colour and new products – my hair is thriving. I promise that this post is not in any way sponsored by Olaplex (I wish!), I just have recently bought their products and have absolutely fallen in love. There are other brands I will mention as well, of course.
High end products
1. olaplex no.3

I know this product is very hyped up – but for good reason! I use this treatment once a week. I apply a coin size to damp hair and leave it in for 10 minutes. I then proceed to wash it out and follow with shampoo and conditioner.
After one use, I could instantly tell my hair was softer, stronger and healthier. I have been using it for about 8 weeks now and I am absolutely in love. It is quite expensive but considering you only use it once a week and only a small amount (a little goes a long way), it is worth the penny.
2. olaplex no.4 & no.5

The shampoo and conditioner I am currently using is Olaplex No.4&5. Honestly, it baffles me how I only use a small coin size amount yet the product is more than enough for my thick hair! My hair has never felt stronger or softer. I really can’t say enough good things about this shampoo and conditioner. They smell great, they make my hair feel great and the packaging is very aesthetically pleasing to me. I only wash my hair twice a week as I find it stays cleaner for longer using these products and less washing promotes hair growth!
3. biosense silver shampoo

As a blonde, a purple shampoo is a must. I find the Biosense silver shampoo great for getting rid of brassy tones and keeping my blonde bright and shiny. I use this every second wash and I leave it on for about 2 minutes before I wash it off and then continue with my normal hair washing routine. I love the smell of it and it does the job really well.
4. Olaplex no.6

I recently bought No.6 to add to my Olaplex collection and I am so happy I did. After I have washed my hair, I apply this product to my ends and brush it through with a comb. It takes away the frizz of my ends and keeps my hair soft. I also use this before I straighten or curl my hair to maintain softness and prevent heat damage. Once again, I use the smallest amount and it goes a long way. I also love the way it makes my hair smell – it leaves behind a fresh salon smell which is amazing.
5. matrix total results texture games

This spray is one of the best buys. It is a sea salt spray which has the most amazing coconut-beachy smell. It leaves your hair smelling as if you have spent the day on the beach. It also provides a lovely texture to my wavy hair and I pretty much use this whenever. On my wet hair, on dry hair and on my curls to give them a more natural texture. It also does not leave your hair feeling sticky, it feels as if there is no product in my hair whatsoever. The best sea salt spray I have yet to use.
more affordable options
I am aware that the products listed above are more on the high-end spectrum, so I do have three products that I sometimes use interchangeably, and used before Olaplex, that I still love and swear by. These are more affordable but still do the job well!
1. L’Oréal paris elvive dream lengths

The L’Oréal Paris Elvive Dream lengths ‘Restoring Shampoo’ and ‘Detangling Conditioner’ are my favourite non-salon products. I still sometimes use these on the odd wash day as I still love how soft they make my hair feel. They also help restore your hair from damage and once again, smell amazing. I can still smell the shampoo after a few days. The conditioner helps my hair with knots and helps restore from any breakage or damage. I used this when I was still dying my hair platinum blonde and it helped with the breakage immensely!
3. L’Oréal Paris elvive dream lengths no haircut cream

This cream saved my split ends. By putting some of this product on your ends, it helps minimalise the effects of split ends and helps keep your hair looking healthy in between hair cuts. It also is a great product to put on after using heat and helps keep your hair strong. It smells exactly like the shampoo & conditioner and works well when used together.

That is the start of my hair product collection – I am in the process of getting myself some more heat protectants and serums as I want to keep my hair in tip top condition. I will keep you posted on any new products I acquire. Also – keep an eye out on the @justjayblog Instagram account as I will be doing a IGTV hair styling series if you are keen.
